Message for February 21, 2024

Someone approached me, crestfallen at having missed Ash Wednesday. I sympathized but pointed to the heart of the matter:  Repentance!

This is timely, because we have added Confessions here at St Paul’s (Bow St and Arrow St) tonight (Wednesday, 6:30pm - 8:00pm) and tomorrow (Thursday, 7pm-8pm).

In Lent we add on Wednesday 6:30pm-8:00pm Confessions here for all students and parishioners.

Also, for graduate students, postdocs and young professionals in Lent we have Eucharistic Adoration and Confessions 7pm to 8pm on St. Paul’s Church. We then head over to the student lounge of the Harvard Catholic Center (20 Arrow St.) for Conversation and Socializing.  That seems apt since the Sacrament of Reconciliation brings us back into union with each other after sin had left us at times apart.  Surely the Eucharist, the Body of Christ, helps create the Body of Christ, the Church, in us, re-integrated with each other to serve the world. And we begin that by reaching out to each other in that second hour, building each other up, and building up the Body of Christ!

The Cardinal has his yearly retreat for those discerning the priesthood this coming weekend.  Please let me know if you need an invitation or one has not arrived.

I would love to meet you here to see how you’re doing, or take you to coffee or head out on a walk.  Let’s all try that this Lent!

Please know of my prayers for you, your families, and your colleagues all

God Love You!

Yours ever,

Father George Salzmann OSFS
